Low-power Atom N2600 targets netbooks

Adding several new features for netbook computer applications, the Atom N2600 and N2800 microprocessors take only 3.5- and 10-W TD power (a reduction of up to 50%) and come in a small 22 x 22-mm 437-ball FCBGA package. The CPUs run at 1.6 and 1.86 GHz with support for up to 4 Gbytes of DDR3-800 or DDR3-1066 memory, respectively.

The 32-nm dual-core processors use second-generation Hi-K metal gate transistors. They are paired with the 1.5-W NM10 Express chipset and feature a 400- or 640-MHz graphics media accelerator, plus LVDS, VGA, HDMI, USB 2.0, Serial ATA, and PCIe interfaces. The ICs include Intel Hyper-Threading, Rapid Start, and Deep Power Down technologies. (Ea/1,000: N2600 from $42; N2800 from $47 — available now.)
