Tiny accelerometers have little mass

Designed for multichannel modal and structural analysis of small or thin-walled components and subsystems, as well as full vehicle testing in automotive, aerospace, and laboratory testing environments, the single-axis 8640A and tri-axial 8688A precision PiezoBeam IEPE accelerometers weigh as little as 3.5 and 6.7 g, respectively. Optionally, the accelerometers can be TEDS enabled.

The single-axis unit is offered in ranges of ±5, ±10, and ±50 G with sensitivities from 1,000 to 100 mV/g. The sensor’s ceramic cantilever beam sensing element is thermally compensated using patented methods that allow it to emit an electrical charge proportional to vibration. The tri-axial devices is available in ranges of ±5, ±10, and ±50 G, with choice of 1,000-, 500-, or 100-mV/G sensitivities. Both models operate directly from any standard IEPE-compatible power source and are ground isolated when mounted with the optional twist-clip or adhesive adapter.
