Wideband PLLs integrate VCOs

The HMC833LP6GE/HMC834LP6GE wideband PLLs with integrated VCOs are ideal for a wide range of applications including high performance cellular/4GWiMax infrastructure, repeaters and femtocells, communications test equipment, CATV equipment, very-high-data-rate radios, phased array and DDS replacement applications. The HMC833LP6GE provides an integrated VCO with a fundamental frequency of 1,500 to 3,000 MHz, and an integrated VCO output divider (divide by 1/2/4/6…/60/62) and doubler. These features allow the HMC833LP6GE to generate frequencies from 25 to 6,000 MHz.

The HMC834LP6GE offers an integrated VCO with a fundamental frequency of 2,800 to 4,200 MHz, and an integrated VCO output divider (divide by 1/2/4/6…/60/62) and doubler, that together allow the HMC834LP6GE to generate frequencies from 45 to 1,050 MHz, from 1,400 to 2,100 MHz, from 2,800 to 4,200 MHz, and from 5,600 to 8,400 MHz.

Both parts feature a noise floor of less than –170 dBc/Hz, a programmable RF output power control of 9 dB (at 3 dB steps), and an output mute function with over 40 dB of isolation across the entire operating frequency range. Both devices offer an integrated phase detector feature, a delta-sigma modulator, and an “Exact Frequency Mode” that enables users to generate output frequencies with 0 Hz frequency error.

Also released is the HMC1060LP3E quad-output linear voltage regulator which is ideal for use with these PLLs. The part offers a maximum of 500 mA of current, which is distributed between four independent outputs and supports adjustable output voltages ranging anywhere from 1.8 to 5.2 V.
