Providing up to 1,500 VA, the model 1657 ac power source provides high conversion efficiency and low distortion output, with efficiency greater than 85% at full load and nominal line input, and worst-case distortion less than 5% at 270 Vrms/450 Hz and full load. The input power factor is 0.99 at full load and the unit’s output can operate in one of two voltage ranges, 135 or 270 V, with resolution of 0.1 V and accuracy of 1% of full scale. Output frequency is adjustable from 45 to 450 Hz in 0.01-Hz steps.
A bright LCD displays output voltage, current, power, and frequency, and also indicates selected range and operating mode. A front-panel control knob allows manual setting of voltage and frequency parameters, and the supply can also be controlled remotely via RS-232 interface. Applications include 50/60-Hz margin testing, 400-Hz avionics testing, and characterization of ac/dc converters. ($4,250 — available now.)
