64-bit QorIQ MCUs handle 24 threads

The 64-bit QorIQ Advanced Multiprocessing (AMP) series T4240 and T4160 embedded processors feature 12 and 8 cores with dual threads. The T4240 has achieved an estimated CoreMark performance score of 173,000, while the T4160 runs at 1.8 GHz within a 25 W power envelope.

The T4240/T4160 have 3 or 2 DDR memory controllers, 32 or 24 Serdes lanes, and 4 or 2 10 Gbit Ethernet MACs. They yield 6.0 DMIPS/MHz/core at up to 1.8 GHz and banks of four cores share a 2 Mbyte L2 cache. The T4240 includes support for hardware-assisted virtualization with DMA memory protection. The T4240 can handle 40 Gbit/s encrypt/decrypt and has four PCI Express 3.0 controllers and a 20 Gbit/s data compression engine. (Price not provided – available mid-year.)
