Probe checks current without breaking path

For use with any oscilloscope, the Aim-TTi I-Prober 520 hand-held current probe can observe and measure current flowing in a pcb track, as well as other conductors, where conventional current probes cannot be used, by. The probe works by merely placing the insulated tip of the probe on to the track; it does not require breaking or surrounding the conductor, and is even usable on high voltage conductors and in high temperature areas.

Based on the fluxgate-magnetometer principle, the high-accuracy H-field probe uses a custom miniaturized precision sensor with high excitation frequency. Currents can be measured over a dynamic range of 10 mAp-p to 20 Ap-p and bandwidth from dc to 5 MHz with levels of positional accuracy and sensitivity said to be previously unavailable. The probe’s very low insertion impedance and stray capacitance presents minimal disturbance to circuit conditions. (Available in the U.S. exclusively from Saelig: $798.97 — 4 to 6 weeks ARO).
