The LTC3600 synchronous buck regulator delivers 1.5 A at 0 to 15 V and can be paralleled for applications that need higher current. The switching regulator architecture uses a 50-µA current reference combined with a single resistor to set the output voltage. The device enables current sharing between multiple regulators, setting the output voltage for all of the regulators with a single external resistor.
The buck regulator offers an input voltage range from 4 to 15 V and delivers efficiencies up to 96%. It suits dual-cell Li-ion applications and fixed 5 and 12-V intermediate bus systems. The device allows dynamic adjustment of output voltage from 0 to VIN minus 0.5 V. The device’s ability to provide zero output enables it to power down individual rails in the system as needed. It is available in a 3 x 3-mm DFN or a thermally enhanced MSOP-12 package and offers 200-kHz to 4-MHz switching frequencies. (From $2.80 ea/1,000 — available now.)
