Multi instrument has footprint
Gabotronics’ Xminilab combines multiple instruments — a dual-channel, 200-kHz, 2-Msample/s mixed signal oscilloscope with 8 digital lines, an FFT spectrum analyzer, an arbitrary waveform generator, and a protocol sniffer — on a DIP board with a 3.3 x 1.75-in. footprint. The unit is small enough to be mounted directly on a breadboard or pcb for in situ testing and verification, or it can be used as a development board for AVR’s XMEGA microcontroller.
The instrument’s 128 x 64-pixel OLED graphic display shows the monitored signals with automatic measurements, adjustable persistence, cursors, and grids. The two analog channels can be added, multiplied, inverted, or averaged, and have advanced trigger options. The FFT spectrum analyzer offers different windowing options and selectable vertical logarithmic display, while the ±2-V, 8-bit Arbitrary Waveform Generator with frequency sweep generates signals up to 44 kHz. Protocol decoding and sniffing is provided for SPI, I2 C, UART, as well as parallel decoding, which shows the hexadecimal value for each successive parallel byte from the 8 digital input lines.
