The XS1-SU1 and -SU2 single- and dual-core 32-bit embedded processors enable what is said to be the highest-quality multichannel USB audio available. The processors can provide 24-bit, 44.1-kHz to 192-kHz digital audio. They yield up to 700-MIPS performance/core and they have a four-channel 12-bit 1-Msample/s A/D converter, a DSP (32 x 32-bit MAC), and cryptographic functions.
The ICs have a USB 2.0 PHY and dual dc converters. The 96-pin FBGA-packaged SU1 chip takes only 300 mW at 500 MHz, and its A/D has an integral nonlinearity of ±4 LSB. Sleep mode takes less than 500 µA and it has 64 Kbytes of single-cycle SRAM and 8 Kbytes of OTP memory. (XS1-SU1; less than $5 ea/10,000 — samples available now; production 2nd qtr; XS1-SU2 samples 3rd qtr.)
