The BCM88030 100-Gbit/s full-duplex network processor features 64 cores running at 1 GHz and is said to deliver more than twice the throughput of any other NPU on the market. The device is built on the proven XGS core packet-processing architecture.
The NPU family has seven hardware accelerators including a proprietary algorithmic look-up engine using low-cost DDR-3 DRAM that enables massive scale for Layer 2, IPv4, and IPv6 tables. The chip has an OA&M engine, 1588 timing and synchronous Ethernet, 10-GbE SerDes and 100-GbE Ethernet MACs. ($750 each — samples available now.)
