The V78XX-1000-SMT 1A surface-mount series is an alternative to linear regulators. They offer efficiencies up to 92% in contrast to efficiencies typically ranging from 40% to 60% for equivalent linear regulators. The series measures 15.24 x 8.50 x 7.00 mm.
The switching regulators have an input range from 5 to 18-Vdc and regulated output voltages of 2.5, 3.3, 5, and 6 Vdc. They feature remote on/off control, short-circuit protection, and overtemperature protection, and have an operating temperature range from –40° to 85°C.
