D/A converters offer industry’s best performance, smallest packages
The AD5686R/AD5685R/AD5684R, members of the nanoDAC+ family, are low-power quad 16-/14-/12-bit buffered-voltage output DACs. They are claimed by the company to offer the best dc performance (INL of ±2 LSB max at 16 bits, offset error of ±1.5 mV max, and gain error of ±0.1%) in smallest packages (3 x 3 mm) with a choice of on-chip or external reference and SPI or I2 C control interface.
Additional features include a 2.5-V, 2ppm/°C internal reference, user selectable gain od 1 or 2 (GAIN pin), low power of 3.3 mW at 3 V, and a temperature range from –40° to 105°C. Housed in a chip-scale 16-pin LFCSP or 16-pin TSSOP packages, the series features a 4-kV HBM ESD rating.
Applications such as PLC I/O cards, digital oscilloscopes, signal generators, and optical modules that require low power, rail-to-rail, single-supply D/A converters will benefit from the AD568xR series’ industry-leading performance. The devices are available in high and mid-range performance grades (B and A) to match specific system performance and cost targets. (AD5686R, $8.06; AD5685R, $5.76; AD5685R, $4.80 — available now.)
