Chip delivers 802.11ac WiFi, GbE, USB 3.0

The StrataGX BCM5301x for small business routers and network attached storage (NAS) devices and the BCM4708x for home routers and gateways, extend the power of 802.11ac WiFi. They combine a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU with a Gigabit Ethernet switch, five GbE PHYs, USB 3.0, 802.11ac, and traffic accelerators on a single chip.

The devices also feature Energy Efficient Ethernet for 70% reduction in active power consumption. They have DDR2/3 interfaces for up to 800 MHz, and NAND flash, PCIe, and RGMII interfaces. The devices also support IEEE 802 AV bridging standard and the IEEE 1588 timing standard. (Price not given – production 2H 2012.)
