The Grid-tied renewable energy systems help save money by offsetting utility costs, while off-grid systems provide energy independence when grid power is unavailable. Grid-interactive systems with battery back-up capability can do both, delivering savings when the grid is up and delivering power for essential needs if the grid fails. The grid-interactive unit augments grid power while maintaining back-up capacity. During an outage, it will deliver power from a renewable source, such as batteries, a generator, or a combination of these energy options. It allows the system to come back online at 3,500 W, half the capacity of continuous power, in the event of a power module failure.
