The ADP1851 synchronous, step-down dc/dc controller features voltage tracking and synchronization capability. It can be configured to work as a voltage-mode controller with input feed-forward or as a current-mode controller, depending on the application and customer preference. The controller suits transient point-of-load applications for communications networking, industrial, medical, and consumer applications.
The buck dc/dc controller can be connected in parallel to achieve up to 50 A. It features a synchronization input eliminating beat frequencies and reducing system input capacitance when multiple devices with phase-shifted synchronization are used. The device also has a tracking capability that enables controlled start-up. The controller has an input from 2.75 to 20 V that allows operation from 3.3–, 5– and 12–V rails. It is available in a 16–lead LFCSP (4 x 4–mm) package. ($1.05 ea — available now.)
