Missy Harris: Lunchboxes, Land of the Lost and Learning

Electronic Products: Tell us a bit about your background?

Missy Harris: After going to school for writing and literature, I decided to take off and travel the world for awhile. I went from England to Israel and back again, but slowly, taking a year to see some of the Middle East and Europe. We played music in the streets to survive, saw many strange and wonderful places and met many lifelong friends. Without question, I had a lot of writing material after that trip.

When I returned, I covered musical events, movies and shows for a local music magazine and then went to work in the publishing field as an editor and writer in the B2B world here on Long Island. I then penned shorter copy at an ad agency and for various marketing companies. I joined Hearst about eight months ago and have been learning about (and covering) the world of engineering ever since…

Electronic Products: What do you do at Hearst?

Missy Harris: I’m the Custom Media Editor, so I create targeted and custom newsletters, write press releases on latest Electronic Products doings and produce articles on new technologies that strike my fancy (and hopefully our readers’).

Electronic Products: What cool technology/ies have you discovered so far?

I liked learning about (and writing on) Curiosity, the rover robot that landed on Mars. It is acquiring so much information for us, like the fact that the Red Planet’s atmosphere contains no methane. So it probably smells better than here, right?

Electronic Products: Any gadgets you read about on the EP site that you plan to purchase in the near future?

I very much want the Zorro Macsk touchscreen for my iMac. It looks really fun and comes in a lot of bright colors, which is very important to me.

Electronic Products: Anything else you want our readers to know about you?

I have a wall full of vintage lunchboxes, which includes the Beatles Yellow Submarine box and the Land of the Lost box, with scary sleestaks and Grumpy the dinosaur trying to eat Chaka depicted on its raised lids.
