Make phone calls using these Bluetooth gloves
Interesting product out of Japan merges fashion with forward-thinking technology
Interesting piece of gadgetry solves common winter problem: gloves include a built-in Bluetooth headset, thereby allowing users to make phone calls that don’t result in cold hands.
Bluetooth gloves allow wearers to take phone calls using their fingers.
Distributed through hi-Fun, the gloves& #8212; aptly dubbed “hi-Call” — are able to connect with the iPhone and most Bluetooth-compatible devices, with an operating range of 30+ feet (outdoors).
All of the technology is in the left glove: a microphone is located at the tip of the pinky slot, and a loudspeaker is in the tip of the thumb slot to allow users to take and receive calls using the common “call me” hand signal.
A control panel near the wrist includes a multi-function button (for switching calls), multi-function LED light, power button, and charging station.
The glove takes about 30 minutes to fully charge its lithium-ion battery. Powering up is achieved via microUSB and the battery can last a long time — 10 days on standby, 20 hours while having conversation. Status of charge is displayed on the screen of the device to which it is connected.
If there’s no available paired device or if the phone itself is out of range, the hi-Call glove turns off after 5 minutes to avoid battery discharging.
Both gloves feature conductive fabric, to allow touchscreen dialing without having to remove the garment. They’re available in two colors, black and grey, and come in two sizes: man and woman.
