Optical driver supports Metro, Long-haul apps

The HMC6620BG dual-channel 32-Gbit/s Mach-Zehnder optical modulator driver supports the next generation of 40 Gbit/s and 100 Gbit/s Metro and Long-haul applications. It is offered as the first of its kind to be housed in a compact BGA package (13.76 x 13 x 3.63 mm) with a channel-to-channel isolation of greater than 30 dB up to 30 GHz and optional top or bottom cooling capability to ease space constrained module designs.

Features include a supply range from 5 to 7 V, channel-to-channel skew of 1 ps, and a power consumption of 0.9 W. It is rated for operations from -5° to +85 °C and exhibits very low additive rms jitter of 300 fs. The output swing is adjustable from 5 to 8.5 Vp-p. (Contact company for pricing and availability.)
