Mouser Joins Indy 500 Champ Tony Kanaan in Celebrating Biggest Win of Lifetime

Kanaan’s Winning Performance Aligns with Mouser’s Focus to Advance New Technology

Mouser Electronics, Inc., a top design engineering resource and global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, today applauded Tony Kanaan's steadfast perseverance to win the 2013 Indianapolis 500. The heartfelt victory on Sunday came after 11 years of hard-fought attempts and near wins to capture the coveted checkered flag.

The victory is a dream come true for Kanaan, who has said “I wanted it all my life.” On the last lap under the yellow caution flag, fans in the stands were yelling, “TK, TK, TK!”

“I have to say, the last lap was the longest lap of my life,” Kanaan said.

The 12th trip to Indy was the charm for Kanaan also perhaps because of a very special charm he carried with him throughout the race. The Brazilian driver received a package four days before the race containing a good luck charm he had given to a young girl nine years ago just before she was about to undergo brain surgery. The woman, now 24 years old and healthy, returned the charm to Kanaan along with a note that read: “Here's your good luck charm back. Now you take it and win the Indianapolis 500.”

Kanaan's admirable story of perseverance mirrors the driving force behind success for many of today's entrepreneurs, innovators and design engineers, who are always aiming for the next big discovery. Mouser Electronics provides them with the latest technologies and newest products to advance their designs and get them to market faster.

“Tony definitely embodies the kindred spirit of the design engineer, always trying and never giving up,” said Glenn Smith, Mouser's President and Chief Executive Officer. “As we look back over the past two years, we are so proud to be one of Tony's sponsors. His focus and determination have helped him achieve his lifelong dream. We are happy to be a supporter of that.”

Mouser is an official partner of the 2013 KV Racing Technology #11 IZOD IndyCar Series team. Smith thanked this year's co-sponsors for their support of the Mouser racing program. They include TTI, Inc, Sager, Amphenol, Bivar, ebm-papst, Fluke, Hammond Manufacturing, Harwin, LEMO, Molex, Murata, NKK Switches, Ohmite, and Phoenix Contact.

The 2013 IZOD IndyCar series features 19 races. The series travels to Mouser's backyard on June 8 for the Firestone 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Kanaan finished 5th last year at TMS. For the latest updates on the 2013 season, visit http://www.mouser.com/indy/.
