One day, the pizza delivery boy may look a lot like a drone.

Domino's Pizza has successfully tested a pizza delivery drone called “Domicopter” that can get to your house a lot faster than the guy that has to stop at red lights and wait for pedestrians to cross the street.
Domino's recently hired an agency called T+ Biscuits to come up with a new and inventive way to deliver pizzas. What they decided on was an octocopter, a helicopter-like device with eight spinning blades and an insulated pizza bag. The prototype, designed by Aerosight, was tested in England and successfully delivered two large pizzas in 10 minutes within a four-mile radius of the store.
Usually, Aerosight develops drones like these for broadcasting applications in order to capture and transmit video, but now they’re in the pizza business.
“If anything, it went quicker than a pizza boy,” Tom Hatton, T+ Biscuits founder, told NBC.
The Domicopter was piloted from the ground and required no flying permits since it only hovered a little over 400 feet above ground. (Permission from the landowners below the testing was required, though.)
The company envisions that, in the future, the Domicopter would also include a GPS to navigate to each destination. Designers are also finding new ways for it to carrier heavier orders.
The prototype is currently undergoing further testing at the Domino's Headquarters in the U.K.
