Mouser Electronics, Inc., a top global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, today congratulates Tony Kanaan for his fantastic third-place finish in Sunday's Iowa Corn Indy 250 at the Iowa Speedway in Newton. Kanaan now ranks fifth in the 2013 series championship race with 253 points.
With his signature skills, Kanaan continuously maneuvered up the grid to run in the leading pack throughout the race. Kanaan made his final pit stop during Lap 210 and received a new set of tires for the last stretch. He quickly accelerated from sixth position into the fourth spot, and then began battling it out side-by-side against Graham Rahal. Towards the end with six laps to go, Kanaan shot past Rahal to score the podium victory of third place.
“It was intense,” Kanaan said after the race. “…We put on the new tires, and that gave us a big advantage at the end.”
Kanaan has won four straight podium finishes at Iowa, winning first in 2010, runner-up in 2011 and back-to-back third places in 2012 and 2013. With a total of 19 races in the series, the team receives a short break before moving onto Pocono, Pennsylvania for the Pocono IndyCar 400 on July 7. The oval track, dubbed the “Tricky Triangle,” is 160 laps and 400 miles.
Kanaan scored a third-place finish on June 8 at the Firestone 550 Race at Texas Motor Speedway; this following his historic victory at the Indianapolis 500 race over Memorial Day weekend.
“We are thrilled for Tony and the whole KV Racing Technology team. They are having a tremendous season,” said Todd McAtee, Mouser Vice President of Business Development. “All of us here at Mouser are watching Tony with excitement as the season moves into the second half.”
