Mouser Electronics, Inc., a top design engineering resource and global distributor for semiconductors and electronic components, celebrates with Tony Kanaan for his outstanding third place finish in Saturday's Firestone 550 Race at Texas Motor Speedway.
In typical Kanaan manner, the 2013 Indy 500 winner expertly maneuvered his way up 10 places on the grid to capture a podium position at the 342-mile, 228-lap oval track race at TMS. The Brazilian driver is now ranked fourth place in the season standings.
“The next stretch of races should be very good for us,” Kanaan told IndyCar.com after the race. “We're fourth in the championship and we think we can keep up the momentum from the win at Indianapolis going forward.”
Mouser Electronics welcomed Kanaan to its corporate headquarters on Thursday during Race Week amid an enthusiastic crowd of hundreds of citizens, racing fans, employees, suppliers, media and city officials. Hundreds lined Mouser Way in Mansfield to catch a glimpse of the beloved IndyCar champ who arrived on Mouser's campus in grand style by helicopter. Led by a police escort and the Mansfield Legacy High School Marching Band, a car procession featuring a classic Cadillac convertible and Packard Roadster then drove Kanaan and his wife Lauren, along with Mouser President and CEO Glenn Smith and Mansfield Mayor David Cook through the cheering crowds to the decorated stage in front of Mouser's rotunda entrance for the public ceremony.
Mansfield Mayor David Cook presented Kanaan with the key to the city and proclaimed June 6th as Tony Kanaan Day in the City of Mansfield. A traditional Indy 500 milk toast was given to honor his historic victory.
“We are so proud of Tony that we wanted to give him a special welcome,” said Smith, Mouser President and CEO. “He has been trying for 12 years to win the Indy 500 and we wanted our employees and racing fans in the community to be able to meet him and cheer him on in person.”
Mouser is an official partner of the 2013 KV Racing Technology #11 IZOD IndyCar Series team. Smith thanked this year's co-sponsors for their support of the Mouser racing program. They include TTI, Inc, Sager, Amphenol, Bivar, ebm-papst, Fluke, Hammond Manufacturing, Harwin, LEMO, Molex, Murata, NKK Switches, Ohmite, and Phoenix Contact.

Mouser first sponsored IndyCar in 2011 as an innovative way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote the newest technologies and how they affect the high-tech world of IndyCar racing. Since every advanced, sophisticated component that goes into an IndyCar is all about precision and gaining a performance edge out on the track, IndyCar provides the perfect vehicle to build top-of-mind awareness for Mouser and its industry-leading manufacturers.
The 2013 IZOD IndyCar series features 19 races. The IndyCar series travels this week to the Milwaukee IndyFest on June 15, a race that has been good to Kanaan. He won two in a row at Milwaukee in 2006-07 and placed second there last year. For the latest updates on the 2013 season, visit http://www.mouser.com/indy-racing/.
