Texas Instruments Expands Ultra-Low Power MSP430 Value Line MCUs, Available at Mouser

July 11, 2013 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. is offering an expanded range of Texas Instruments' ultra-low power MSP430 Value Line Microcontrollers, providing superior 16-bit MCU performance and industry leading ultra-low power consumption for cost-sensitive applications that have traditionally depended on low cost 8-bit microcontrollers. New line addition, the MSP430G2x55 series are ultra-low-power mixed signal microcontrollers with built-in 16-bit timers, up to 32 I/O touch-sense-enabled pins, a versatile analog comparator, and built-in communication capability using the universal serial communication interface.

TI MSP430 Value Line ensures 8-bit developers no longer need to sacrifice performance, power efficiency or scalability because of price. The MSP430G2xx Value Line is an ideal fit for a broad range of cost sensitive applications, including, safety and security, low cost touch pads, remote controls and intelligent sensors. The roadmap includes more than 100 MCUs to be released over the next 15 months, providing developers with a broad portfolio to best fit their memory, peripheral and packaging configuration needs.

The G2x55 devices are code compatible across the MSP430 MCU platform, enabling easy code migration and upgrades to higher-end devices as application requirements evolve. The new MCUs are also supported by TI's easy-to-use MSP430 tools, free software and broad third party support network, driving faster time-to-market across a broad range of cost sensitive applications, including safety, security and touch sense. The combination of low-cost, tiny form factor, high-performance 16-bit RISC core, and ultra-low power allows the MSP430 Value Line to enable new possibilities in traditional low cost 8-bit applications.
