Wearable technology for the gym rat

New fitness watch simplifies calorie counts

The world has seen its fair share of wearable technology already, designed to improve quality of life in the form of a digital watch or a pair of Google glasses. But a new spin on wearable technology has been approached and launched courtesy of EB Sport Group. The SYNC Burn is a connected fitness product that syncs with MapMyFitness, an iPhone app that helps track the calories burned, miles walked, and steps taken on a daily basis.

SYNC Burn watch

The SYNC, a wristband that simply gets strapped on, is incredibly affordable. Since the product launch is part of a collection, there are different levels of the SYNC that sell for different prices and have a variety of features. The $25 step counter is perfect for a person who gets most of his or her exercise from walking around. The SYNC can reach up to $130 for the gym rat or avid runner who is looking for more information to go along with their workouts.

Each device on the product line can hook up to the MapMyFitness iPhone app that records daily calorie burn, heart rate, distance, total steps, and hourly progress charts. The wristband uses Bluetooth to wirelessly send information to the iPhone device. Even though the SYNC offers different pieces of information, the wrist band has four main presets and shifts to the watch mode by default, which includes date and time.

Not only does the SYNC keep you updated on all workout stats, it needs virtually no charge. The SYNC is said to have a battery life that lasts a full year. Similar products, like those from Jawbone, FitBit and Basis, require recharging after a week or a few days of heavy use, but the SYNC runs on batteries that claim to stay running for 365 days.

SYNC also offers a GPS watch and activity trackers in their collection of wearable technology. The SYNC’s goal is to inspire and record data for fitness enthusiasts and encourage them to reach a better time or faster pace. Learn more about the SYNC launch visit their product page.
