Perhaps you’ve thrown out your old Nintendo Entertainment System and are feeling nostalgic. Maybe you just feel like escaping from the mundane tasks of everyday life and feel like leading Mario on a mission to save the Princess.
Well, now you can – right on your computer.
Play Full Screen Mario on your computer.
Josh Goldberg, a computer-science student from Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, has created Full Screen Mario, a fully HTML 5 remake of the original Super Mario Brothers.
If you head over to the site, you can play the original levels, choose your own levels, or even have them randomly selected for you. The project is open source and free, so if you want to use the code, you can just e-mail Goldberg. Since the project is open source, people can build their own levels with an online level editor.
Goldberg has been doing code work since he was in middle school and graphic design since high school. Finally, it’s paid off allowing us to play Super Mario Brothers whenever we want.
