Alejo Bernal invented a light-up toy car, specially designed for people with ADHD. The car will enable enhanced concentration among the ADHD community, and will help these people remain focused on activities for  periods of time. The car is controlled by the mind through wearing an electroencephalography (EEG) headset that calculates your brain’s electrical activity, containing one dry electrode on the forehead and another on the earlobe. The device then converts it into commands to which the car can react to and perform. The brain's impulses will send commands to the car. The more focused the person becomes, the brighter the car’s light will shine. With this device, individuals with ADHD can expand their attention span.

In an interview with the website Deezen, Bernal remarked, “As you try to focus, the increased light intensity of the vehicle indicates the level of attention you have reached, [and] once the maximum level is achieved and retained for seven seconds, the vehicle starts moving forward.” He strongly feels that ADHD sufferers need to learn to train their minds in order to augment their concentration abilities.

As part of his research, Bernal observed the ways of the Dutch Neurofeedback Institute. He observed that the Institute usually put patients in front of electronic devices, like the television, for stimulation. The innovator analyzed patients and how digital feedback was received when they used the EEG. ADHD sufferers appear to frequently develop addictions to video games, TV, and other technological vices. With this car, Bernal hopes that people will use this alternative therapeutic method to stimulate the ADHD brain without having to turn to the television or administering medication.
