Glu Mobile has just revealed plans for its first ever game —actually, one of the first ever games — developed exclusively for play on Google Glass. Mobile apps, it appears, are no longer the height of mobile entertainment technology. Spellista, the company’s game, is now available for download through Google Glass’s website.
Spellista, a word puzzle game that will allow uses to solve scrambled words and create their own unique puzzles, will join the sparse ranks of Google Glass games including GlassBattle, BrickSimple’s Battleship-esque game for the Google Glass platform. While many developers are attempting to create games for Google Glass and other similar devices, these two games are still a relative novelty.
Spellista will apparently employ Google Glass’s gyroscope, accelerometer, camera, and voice recognition technology in order to immerse the user in hands-free gameplay.

The game includes nine environments of play and also includes a Glass-to-Glass sharing function, so users can create unique levels of their own that can then be sent to other players through the Glass camera and voice recognition.
Spellista will only be available for Google Glass, making it one of the rare game to be exclusively developed for a wearable interface. Its creators at Glu Mobile hope its sharing functions and individualized game environments will inspire a sense of community in Google Glass users.
“Spellista turns gameplay into an instant communication platform by letting anyone make personalized, interactive content for their friends and family,” said the game’s Executive Producer Lian Amaris during a company statement. “When players create unique puzzles for each other, the game becomes communal in a timely and meaningful way.”
