Linx FM Series GPS/GNSS Module
January 16, 2014 – Mouser Electronics, Inc. is now stocking the new high performance GPS/GNSS modules and GPS development kits from Linx Technologies.
The Linx Technologies' FM Series GPS/GNSS Receiver Module available from Mouser Electronics is a self-contained high performance Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver designed for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) applications and are designed to track up to 22 satellite channels at once. This provides very fast Time‑To‑First‑Fix (TTFF), allowing the module to determine its position after a hot start power‑on in as fast as one second. The GPS module interfaces to most microcontrollers using a standard UART interface.
Each FM Series GPS/GNSS Receiver Module contains a battery-backed SRAM that needs only a small lithium battery. No external RF components are required except for an antenna. The module provides exceptional sensitivity with a wide variety of passive or active external antennas, even in dense urban areas and city streets.
Linx FM/RM GPS receivers are complete GPS solutions and can be easily designed in by engineers with little or no GPS experience. The module targets navigation, tracking, and positioning applications where a custom GPS system is not required. To start tracking a position by GPS requires no additional programming or RF components.
Development kits and evaluation modules for Linx GPS modules are also available from Mouser Electronics. The Linx Master Development Kit is used for rapidly developing hardware and software based on the GPS/GNSS modules. To aid in benchmarking and prototyping the development kits have an OLED display for displaying satellite data. The development kit is ready to use and includes an SH Series antenna and 4 AAA batteries. The Linx Evaluation Modules contain a surface‑mounted GPS/GNSS module, SMA antenna connector, and through-hole headers for easy access to the module's pins.
