The military is always on the cutting edge of all things tech. From drones, to advanced communication systems, the military will start implementing another amazing invention to make operations more efficient. BAE Systems has created Q-Warrior, a head-mounted display that sits directly inside troops’ helmets. This wearable technology will practically turn soldiers into Tony Stark replicas, minus the flying capabilities and the red bionic super suit.
The line of BAE Systems’ Q-Sight products allows the user gain real-time data and “situational awareness” in all types of environments. The goggles have a high-resolution display, enhanced night vision abilities, GPS information, and the innate feature of identifying potential attacks. The communication, command, and control systems of Q-Warrior will enable troops to get the edge they need during combat. This device can also organize actions within small units. The Q-Warrior provides troops with a heightened vantage point “third eye” so to speak, warning the user about certain locations, nearby hazards, and where their target lies. This technology is definitely the battleground equivalent of Google Glass. Troops will also be able to view live feeds right before their very eyes from nearby spy drones.
It will be interesting if this technology starts to work in tandem with other battlefield tech such as the Army Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS) that forms a protective outer layer around its wearer. Its wearing benefits include extreme strength and armor-like protection against bullets, body-monitoring capabilities, wound-sealing foam, and built-in computers.
Q-Sight products would also work well with the wearable tech-textile that Electronic Products reported about last year. The Quantum Stealth wearable invisible material would enable troops to become almost superhuman, gaining a firm advantage in battle by being completely invisible and wearing the Q-Warrior to keep them informed with pertinent data.
BAE Systems has a full line of smart services that help military and technical operations. Perhaps this company will soon team up with one of the aforementioned organizations to create amazingly integrated military-ready tech products that will assist troops in combat.
