Signal/spectrum analyzer option gives 500 MHz analysis bandwidth

Available for all analyzers of the FSW family, the FSW-B500 hardware option allows the analyzers to be used for measurements in a 500-MHz bandwidth at frequencies to 67 GHz. The option enables completely new applications for signal and spectrum analyzers in research and development, especially for satellite applications or radar systems for automotive applications, as well as for fast wireless connections such as WLAN and “Beyond 4G.”

The large analysis bandwidth lets users test rise and fall times of approximately 3 ns or very short pulses with an 8-ns width. Users can fully record and measure radar chirps in a 500-MHz bandwidth, and hopping sequences in frequency-agile communications systems such as tactical radios. Researchers working on satellite applications and microwave links will be able to characterize components for the future transponder. For developers of RF amplifiers for mobile radio or WLAN, the option provides the ability to measure digital predistortion of amplifiers with up to 160-MHz bandwidth, as required for WLAN 802.11ac signals, which in the past often required complicated setups consisting of a digital oscilloscope and a downconverter.
