COTS crimp pins offer Mil-Spec reliability

Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equivalents to popular Mil-Spec M39029 crimp pins, the 39XX-X family of five different-sized pins meets the needs of applications that do not require Mil-Spec components, but demand the same reliability and form factor. Each pin is precision-machined and has an inspection hole not only for viewing the wire during crimping, but also for promoting plating coverage inside the crimp hole. While the pins are dimensionally equivalent to the military parts, they do not have color bands.

The brass-alloy-360, 1/2-hard pins comes in sizes of 22, 20, 16, 14, and 12, to accomodate AWG sizes of 22 to 28, 20 to 24, 16 to 20, 14 to 16, and 12 to 14 respectively. Available with 10, 20, or 50-μin. gold or 200-μin. tin or tin/lead plating over nickel, the respective company (and Mil-Spec) part numbers for 10-μin gold-plated pins are 3922-0-01-15-00-00-08-0 (M39029/58-360), 3920-0-01-15-00-00-08-0 (M39029/58-363), 3916-0-01-15-00-00-08-0 (M39029/58-364), 3914-0-01-15-00-00-08-0 (M39029/1-102), and 3912-0-01-15-00-00-08-0 (M39029/58-365). Since they conform to the dimensions of the Mil-Spec parts, the same crimp tooling can be used to terminate the wires.
