Low cost 8-bit MCUs have 16-bit PWMs

The 8-bit PIC12F1571 andPIC12F1572 microcontrollers feature three 16-bit PWMs with multiple output modes. They have 1 or 2 Kw of flash and 256 bytes of SRAM,along with a complementary waveform generator (CWG) that, in combination with the PWM, can be used to create half- and full-bridge drive control.

The devices have a four-channel 10-bit A/D converter that enables touch applications using Microchip's capacitive mTouch sensing, and a 5-bit D/A. Supply current is 2.2 ma (typ) when running at 32 MHz from a 3.0 V supply. The 12F1572 includes a USART. “LF” versions if the chips feature sleep currents down to 20 nA. From $0.45 ea/100.
