With more than 30 manufacturing and engineering facilities around the world, Littelfuse is the preferred brand for leading manufacturers. Known for its technical expertise and broad portfolio of circuit protection products, the company has been driven by innovation since its beginning over 85 years ago.
After developing the first small fast-acting protective fuse to prevent sensitive test meters from burning out, Edward V. Sundt founded Littelfuse in 1927. From that first step, the company grew to define the standards of the circuit protection industry.
In 1941 Littelfuse expanded from a manufacturer of small instrument fuses for a limited market to meet the protection needs of the communications and aviation industries during World War II. In the 1960s the company developed sub-miniature fuses for NASA, which were mission-critical components of the American space program, and in 1976 came the groundbreaking Autofuse Fast-Acting Fuses for General Motors, which were designed into vehicles all over the world. Recently, Littlefuse has introduced the world’s smallest high surge current protection thyristor, the Teccor Q2L series (C-Rated) SIDACtor device.
As the world leader in circuit protection, Littelfuse continues to set new benchmarks. The company is currently expanding into markets that complement its core business including power distribution centers for mining operations, generator controls and protection for marine applications, heavy-duty switches for commercial vehicles, and electromechanical sensors used in the automotive industry.
