One can argue that smartphones are portable, electronic, Swiss-army knives of digital life. And because we rely so heavily on them for banking, shopping, directions, and social media, keeping their battery charged has become a somewhat important 21st-century, check-your-privilege need. With that said, the only emergency charger you’ll ever need is the Jumpr; so powerful it can even jump-start your 4 to 6-cylinder automobile’s engine.
“Never be stranded with a dead phone or dead car battery,” indignantly claims the product’s press release. The 5.5 x 3 x 0.6-in. device packs quite the punch, delivering 12 V of output at a peak of 350 A, enough to jump-start the majority of 12-V car batteries. Its lithium polymer battery cell stores 6000 mAh of power, six times the electric current of an iPhone charger, and weighs only 7 ounces, making Jumpr extremely portable. Jumpr itself charges via a Micro USB cable or 12-V cigarette port, allowing you to easily recharge the device once the car is back up and running.
“We all know what it feels like to get caught with a dead car battery; you could be stuck waiting around for hours for a tow truck or friend to arrive,” said Dennis Lee, the CEO of JunoPower, the developer of Jumpr. “The Jumpr is a simple to use solution that gets you back on the road in minutes … Travelers no longer need to worry about lugging around a 10 to 20-pound battery jumper, or tirelessly searching for a wall outlet if their phone dies on-the-go. The Jumpr solves all your power needs in a tiny 5.5” x 3” x .6” frame that weighs only 7 ounces.”
Each Jumpr unit includes a pair of proprietary mini jumper-cables to aid with the actual battery jumping. However, the multi-functional device also includes a 5-V, 2.1-A USB output for charging tablets, cameras, and other smartphones, making Jumpr-owners extremely helpful individuals. Don a smooth pair of sunglasses as you become “That Guy” ─ “that guy” who answers anytime a colleague needs a phone charger or “that guy” who miraculously saves pedestrians from being stranded in parking lots.
Jumpr can be purchased from Junopower’s website for an early adopter price of $70, or $90 later on.
