Curved TV screens are making their way into the market

According to the latest NPD DisplaySearch Quarterly TV Design and Feature Report, curved TV display shipments are predicted to reach nearly 800,000 units this year, and are expected to exceed six million units by the end of 2017. Shipment is forecast to peak in LCD TVs in 2016, although growing shipments of OLED TVs are predicted to boost curved TV shipments in 2017 as well.

Although widely promoted, only about 100,000 OLED TVs will ship in 2014, with shipments likely to break the million-per-year level in 2016. According to DisplaySearch, this is because the TVs still face significant manufacturing problems.
