The STA311B high-dynamic-range audio processor targets applications such as active speakers, docking stations, and digital media players. The 8 x 8-mm VFQFPN-packaged device has eight I2 S serial input channels, up to 10 independent selectable biquadratic filters per channel, input and output mixing capabilities, multiband dynamic range compression, advanced pop-free operation, auto-detection of input sampling frequency, and input/output RMS metering – along with a great many audio options.
The chip allows the application to suppress unwanted surges that could potentially damage speakers and enables a seamless startup. The IC has 8 channels of 24-bit output PWM, greater than 100 dB SNR and dynamic range, and selectable 32 to 192-kHz input sampling rates. It uses a 3.3-V supply, taking 60 mA quiescent or 15 mA in reset state. Samples are available at $3.00 ea/1,000.
