It doesn’t matter if it’s snowing, sleeting, raining, or hailing outside. Now you can illuminate your home or office with sunny skies despite outdoor weather conditions.

A high-tech Italian spin-off company called CoeLux has created an optical system based on nanotechnology that artificially reproduces the natural light and visual appearance of the sun and sky.
The company offers three kinds of windows that you can incorporate into your home’s architecture: a tropical window with cool, vertical sunlight, a Mediterranean window with medium and balanced light, and Nordic windows with warmer, more lateral light.

The optical system creates 3D sensations of distance and space where there would otherwise be none.
The lighting system, created by Professor Paolo Di Trapani from Italy’s University of Insubria, incorporates select LED lighting that resembles natural light and the sun. It also uses a complex optical system that mimics the sun and its rays using nano-structured materials to recreate the natural Rayleigh scattering process that occurs in the atmosphere.

Not only is this a cool technology to have in your home, but it also provides mental health benefits to those who live in darker weather conditions and to elderly people in nursing homes.
The company sees the technology being used in hospitals, underground transportation stations, airports, and even museums.
