The Franklin-Thomas Company has now designed a Kinetic Power Station with kPlus Technology. The new kCharger builds on the technology the company developed for the iMove Charger, only it is a larger and more powerful product. The kinetic energy harvester charges a 12v 10AH battery. To make the new product available, an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign has been launch with a funding goal of $35,000 USD. The project will close on August 28, 2014.
Kinetic energy harvesters gather the energy created by people or things in active motion. The new kCharger is made up of a rotor, rocker, gear, spring, and weight, which all work from the energy that the world expends while moving. Then, users can charge or plug in numerous devices into the outputs. It comes with 2 120 vac Standard outlets, 3 USB charging ports, and 1 direct 12 vdc common posts. Even electric powered mobility machines such as scooters, electric bicycles, and wheelchairs can be charged with the patent pending charging station.
The 300 watt kinetic generator is an extension of The Franklin-Thomas Company’s line of StarPower Generators. A test given by the U.S. Department of Energy proved that the generator is 92.3% efficient. Efficiency is taken seriously with the kCharger. The company has developed a technique to capture even the smallest amount of energy and hold it in a reservoir. Once the reservoir is filled, it can charge the battery. No energy is wasted.
