Enclosures promote rapid MicroTCA/AMC system development

The Express Development Platforms series consists of standard, highly versatile configurations designed to meet a wide range of development needs. Starting at under $4,000, the EXP100 and EXP200 — the first two chassis in the series — feature two and six AMC slots, respectively, in a 1U-height enclosure. Both versions have an integrated low-cost shelf manager and universal ac power. The two-slot EXP100 (below, top) is a basic low-cost design with one Intel-based processor AMC (AMC720). Routing across the backplane is point-to-point, allowing various advanced fabrics to be utilized (for example, 10 or 40 GbE, SRIO, PCIe, Aurora, and more). The result is a compact, versatile, and low-cost development platform for MicroTCA/AMC requirements.

With a 6 Gb/s SATA storage AMC and a 16-core Cavium-based packet processor, the six-slot EXP200 (above, bottom) provides more optional modules, PCIe Gen 2 across ports 4 through 7 (the fat pipes), and an option for 10 GbE on ports 8 through 11.  Both the versions have the OS pre-installed (on processor) and their covers are easily removable for prototyping and development.
