It’s devices like Bosch’s GLM 15, a new laser measure, that support the fact that it’s never too early to start filling out one’s holiday gift wish list.
The tiny device serves two purposes: first and foremost, measure between point A and point B. It’s also meant to (finally) replace the headache-inducing roll of metal tape better known as the tape measure.
The GLM 15 will be available in September for $49. As you can probably tell by the photos, it’s compact enough to fit inside one’s pocket, which makes it perfect for carrying around while on the job site. In terms of measuring distance, the GLM 15 uses a laser rangefinder that shoots out of the top of the device to measure distances up to 50 feet in length with an accuracy of approximately an eighth of an inch.
Some other worthwhile benefits built into the GLM 15:
• One-button operation: Simply push the measuring button once to begin measuring in continuous mode, and press it again to record the measurement
• Continuous measurements: Hold the laser measure against the start point of recording and walk over to the end point to measure the total distance in between
• Only two AAA batteries are required for operation
