Chip takes USB to Ethernet, I2C, UART, GPIO

The XR22804 USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet bridge IC offers a high level of integration, combining a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 hub with controllers for 10/100 Ethernet, I2 C, 32 GPIO, and four enhanced UARTs. The Ethernet controller has both a MAC and a PHY and the USB pins have 15 kV HBM ESD protection.

The upstream USB interface has a PHY and device controller and the chip includes a vendor ID, product ID, power mode, remote wakeup support, and maximum power consumption settings in OTP memory. Up to two GPIO pins can be configured as a PWM generator. $4.15 ea/1,000. Three other versions have fewer UARTs and 16 GPIO and cost from $2.85.
