1U MicroTCA chassis aims to maximize computing density with full redundancy

The VT840 1U MicroTCA chassis platform has several unique design features that allow more slots in a front-to-rear cooled solution while maintaining full redundancy. The chassis combines the fan trays and power supplies on the rear of the chassis, allowing six AMC slots in the single module size as well as dual integrated shelf managers on the 1U chassis platform. The mezzanine approach of the shelf managers lets the chassis manufacturer provide various front panel I/O options in a compact dedicated space.

The six AMC slots are divided among two sets of three slots for full redundancy options with failover.  Each set of slots have their own dedicated PCIe Fabric, GbE, Power Module, clock structure, and management. The VT840 has quad SFP+ ports for 10 GbE and quad SFP for GbE, and runs x8 PCIe Gen 3 on ports 4 to 11. The Layer 2 managed GbE base channels are routed across ports 0 and 1.
