If you’re looking for a TV show that does a good job incorporating technology, look no further! These five shows are some of the best to incorporate different kinds of tech in intelligent, realistic, or just plain awesome ways.
1) Halt and Catch Fire
Set in the early 1980s at the start of the personal computing era, this show features a group of three people trying to build a PC and was just renewed for a second season. The character who has drawn the most attention is young computer genius Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis), who has garnered both praise and criticism for being a tough, androgynous, female hacker.

2) Silicon Valley
Silicon Valley is a comedy about, well, Silicon Valley. Partly inspired by creator Mike Judge’s brief experience as an engineer in the late 1980s, the show’s main character is a socially awkward young man who stumbles into success with a new compression algorithm and finds himself the head of a hotly desired startup. As Judge says, “there’s a relatable thing about a guy who’s in over his head or who doesn’t have the social skills to do things like take charge or fire his friend.”

3) The Good Wife
As a legal drama, this show does a surprisingly good job dealing with technology. Unlike many other shows in that genre, the Good Wife doesn’t stretch modern-day technology to magical proportions, nor does it treat it as something that is inherently dangerous. Its ability to realistically use technology is so good, in fact, that Wired called it “the most tech-savvy show on TV.”

4) The Americans
A drama set during the Cold War about Nina and Phillip, two Soviet spies who pose as an American married couple, this show’s excellent incorporation of 1980s technology earns it a spot on this list. The episode where Philip has to “bug”the Arpanet and Nina has to defeat a polygraph machine is one of the most highly praised episodes of the series.

5) Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As a sci-fi show, the technology shown in Agents of SHIELD is more futuristic than realistic. However, the futuristic technology is both seriously cool and somewhat realistic, making it a fun watch, despite having a plot that started off with some difficulty in living up to the hype.
