Developed at the request of a Russian oil refinery, the Diabox 277 enclosure is made from tough, glass-reinforced polyester (GRP) and includes highly insulated options for use in extremely cold climates. In its “arctic” version, the enclosure is made from a proprietary composite-sandwich material, comprising inner and outer walls of GRP enclosing a closed-cell polyurethane (PU) foam core, and can be used in temperatures as low as −60°C.
The molded two-part enclosure opens diagonally and offers more space than typical instrument enclosures, letting personnel use gloved hands when accessing equipment. It measures 23.6 x 29.5 x 23.6 in. and, depending on the level of insulation specified, has an internal volume of approximately 9.8 ft3 . Standard versions have a wall thickness of 0.23-in. and typically weigh 40 lb.
