Holiday Shopping 101: 5 Mobile apps you’ll need

‘Tis the season for holiday shopping. We’re all interested in saving money with the holidays upon us. So as you embark on your shopping escapades don’t forget to bring along your smartphones.

According to a Retailer eCommerce Study conducted by Shopatron last year, 86% of retailers reported that customers use their mobile phones while shopping in their stores.

Download these five mobile apps for a shopping experience that is more likely to save you money this year.

1. PriceJump

This app, brought to you by Savings.com, peruses over 5,000 stores to find the best possible price available for a product. Just scan the barcode on the item you’ve got in your hand and the app will display the stores with the best prices for your item.

2. Wanelo

You can skip the stores altogether if you’d like by downloading this app. Wanelo has teamed up with 200 brands including Urban Outfitters, Bloomingdales, and SAKS. App users don’t even have to leave the app to complete their purchases.

3. Coupons.com

Sounds pretty self-explanatory, right? Everyone wants to save money while shopping – holiday shopping invokes this desire even more. With the Coupons.com app, Apple and Android users can find high-value coupons, get discount codes, and find nearby stores that have coupons available. 

Similar apps include SnipSnap and Shopular Coupons. 

4. ShopKick

Here’s an app that will actually help you earn money simply by shopping in certain stores (a concept similar to eBates for those of you that are familiar with it).

Each time you walk into one the stores featured in the app, you receive points. You can receive even more points by scanning certain items or completing purchases. As your points build up so do your possible rewards. The app also includes nearby deals for you.

5. Shop for Kids

If you have a lot of little children in your life that you’ll be buying for, then this is the app for you. The Shop for Kids app lets you scan a toy in the store and instantly receive reviews, product durability, and set-up difficulty information. It will even conduct a price comparison for you.  If you have absolutely no idea what to get the kids this year, the app will make recommendations as well.
