Mainstream scopes with capacitive touch screens provide intuitive touch trigger set-up

With bandwidths to 1 GHz, the InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series DSOs and MSOs (digital-storage and mixed-signal oscilloscopes) deliver capacitive touch screens — with zone triggering for intuitive graphical trigger set-up — to the mainstream oscilloscope market. The two- and four-channel series aims to help engineers overcome trigger-setting challenges caused by increasing complex signaling schemes, and thereby improve their problem-solving capability and productivity in everyday situations.

Priced from $3,350 to $15,400, the series' models offer upgradable bandwidths starting at 100 MHz, so user can economically increase the scope’s range, to 1.0 GHz, when the need arises. In addition to the touch screen and graphical zone triggering capability, the scopes provide an update rate of one million waveforms per second that is uncompromised by mode settings, something that can’t be said of other scopes. The standard configuration for all models includes 4 Mpoints of memory, segmented memory, advanced math, and 500-MHz passive probes. All the units are also multifunction instruments, providing users with the functions of a scope (and logic analyzer in the case of MSOs), protocol analyzer, digital voltmeter, arbitrary waveform generator, and an 8-digit hardware counter/totalizer. And to top it off, the scopes can correlate frequency and time domain measurements using a gated FFT function.
