Fibar Group, a leading European manufacturer of wireless, intelligent home automation systems, recently announced that its FIBARO Motion Sensor was selected as a 2015 CES Innovation Award Honoree in the Smart Home Product category.
The CES Innovation Awards is an annual event honoring outstanding design and engineering of consumer technology products in 28 categories. Products entered in this prestigious contest are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, engineers, and members of the trade media; each product category is assigned a three-member judging team composed of one professional from each of the aforementioned disciplines. This year’s CES Best of Innovations Award Honorees were once again collected from a wide range of next-generation technologies.
The wireless FIBARO Motion Sensorhas a built-in motion sensor, temperature sensor, light sensor, and accelerometer. With a diameter of less than 44 millimeters (under 1-3/4 inches), it is said to be the smallest device of its kind in the world.
Designers were inspired by the pupil of a cat’s eye and its quick reactions; sensitivity and field of vision are all encompassed in this compact device. The FIBARO Motion Sensor incorporates four functions:
- Detects the slightest motion (with the ability to adjust sensitivity)
- Informs the user of the temperature level
- Informs the user of light intensity
- Detects any changes in device movement (vibration), alarming the user of any attempt at tampering
This product is part of an intuitive and affordable smart home system called FIBARO, which is able to control 95% of all home devices. The system can be easily managed by saying a few simple words (thanks to remote voice control), or through taps on the user's smartphone or tablet.
“I’m very proud of the CES Innovation 2015 Award,” said Maciej Fiedler, Fibar Group’s CEO. “The FIBARO Motion Sensor was chosen from the world’s best consumer technology products, so this award is very important for us. Our company has only been in existence for four years and we just started shipping to the United States, the 80th country in the world that is receiving our products.”
