This high-tech cruise ship includes robotic bartenders and concierge

This year as you venture out on your vacations and getaways, stop and consider what Royal Caribbean has coined the “smartest cruise ship in history.”

hi tech cruising
Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas cruise ship is not your typical vessel. Instead it’s equipped with a ton of technology and robots to heighten the experience.

The ship includes dancing Roboscreens, a bionic bar and even virtual balconies in the staterooms.

You can start your tech cruise experience with a smart check-in system that allows you to upload all of your information online and receive digital boarding confirmation so you don’t have to wait in line at check-in counters or fill out forms.

The experience also includes a smart concierge. By downloading the Royal iQ app combined with wearable RFID technology, you can make all of your arrangements digitally and reduce lines and waiting times.

The ship’s robotic bar includes laser precision technology and robotic arms that work in synch to mix your cocktails.

QOS Virtual BalconiesVirtual balconies.

If robotic bartenders aren’t your thing, then you’ll enjoy some tech right in your stateroom. Not only do the rooms include USB outlets, energy-efficient lighting systems and digital touch controls, but they also contain Virtual Balconies that display real-time sights and sounds of the sea on 80-inch LED screens.

You can even lounge around at Two70 where you receive 270-degree-views on projectable backdrops that make you feel like you’re in different locations. The venue offers some advanced video projection entertainment system at sea.

If you thought that was a lot of technology, there’s even more. As you stroll around the ship, you’ll encounter interactive art created by some of the world’s best digital and video artists. The SMART Art experience can be found ship-wide and includes video, interactive and kinetic digital media.

QOS PhotoPhoto gallery.

If you’ve ever been on a cruise ship, maybe you’ve stopped to take some portraits and then had to skim through walls of photos to find your own. Royal Caribbean is changing the way you purchase your prints by eliminating paper prints until after you view them on touch screens or iPads.
