Pick-and-place unit is smaller, more versatile

The HP70 pick-and-place direct-drive component is said to be thinner (60 mm wide) than any linear motor or pneumatic module available. This compact device also surpasses other pick-and-place units in speed with over 100 cycles per minute and repeat accuracy of 0.01 mm.

Key to the HP70 is a drive concept that works with two linear motor axes featuring a unique ‘knuckle‘ design on the Y/Z axis that virtually eliminates the need for another linear motor for the z axis. Essentially, two horizontal axes with 125, 225, or 325 mm stroke length are arranged in parallel above one another, and then connected via a kinematic unit. Many palletizing applications do not require the traditional SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) system’s 4-axis design and the HP70 can be used in an economical 3-axis solution. Configurations with four axes have two rotary axes and one lifting swivel unit – which is usually not needed for palletizing.
