Temp protected MOSFET replaces electromechanical switches

The HITFET+ (highly integrated temperature protected MOSFET) family of low side switches replace electromechanical relays with adjustable slew rate and protection features. The first family member is the BTF3050TE provides 40mOhm RDS(on) typical 25°C, and can drive loads up to 3 A in typical automotive body environments. The MOSFET features a diagnosis function, digital status feedback and short-circuit robustness. The family will comprise at least 16 members varying from 10 to 800 mW RDS(on), and D-PAK with 5 or 3 pins, and DSO with 8 pins package size. There is no need for system designers to change either software or PCB layout to drive various loads.

The MOSFETs target automotive and industrial applications. In automotive applications, the products drive solenoids for valve control with PWM up to 20 kHz. Additionally, they suit automotive light dimming applications where they prevent flickering and support the current intensities of 10 to 60 W. The devices are suitable for mid-size and small-size electric motor drives for door lock or parking brake; for injection valves for alternative fuel, flaps driving in HVAC, rear wheel steering applications as well as safety relay replacement in active suspension systems. They are suitable as protected drivers for industrial applications such as printers, vacuum cleaners, solar power modules, and vending machines.
